What does it mean to place your hope in God?

“I say to myself, “The Lord is mine, so I hope in him.”

Lamenations 3:24

Placing my hope in God is surrendering my own needs, desires, and wants to Him and dedicating my life to the Lord. It’s walking by faith and living for His glory and purpose. It’s whole-heartedly believing that no matter what challenges I face in life—that I am okay because I trust in the Lord. I trust in His timing, His plans, and know that He is working for the greater good. I understand that there is purpose in waiting and in the trials and problems I encounter.

It’s the ability to remain calm and positive in every circumstance because I have hope. I never give up, even when things get hard or when things don’t make sense. I still have faith. I believe that the strongest declaration of placing my hope in God is that I never lose faith. Faith is what sustains me. Love is what gives me life.

Through faith, hope, and love—I can endure all things, overcome the darkest storms, and accomplish all things through Christ my Lord, who strengthens me. By having hope, I know that I am never alone. Hope in God brings me peace, eternal life, and deepens my relationship with The Most High. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
